Mission
Educators’ Society for the Heritage of India (ESHI) is a
resource pool and think-tank of educators, scholars and members of the
academic community. ESHI provides authoritative information
and resources related to India's heritage, culture, history,
Dharma, philosophy, theology and languages, to schools and colleges,
teachers, curriculum developers, authors, publishers, education
officials, policy-makers, media, interfaith organizations, non-profit organizations,
leaders and the public in North America.
Motivation
India has always attracted world's attention. India’s
culture, heritage, traditions and philosophies find its place in school
education, college and media. Much of this information is provided by
people who come from outside of the Indian traditions. As a result, considerable
information about Indian traditions is inaccurate. With this concern,
a number of scholars, educators, and community leaders met at the Global
Dharma Conference in Edison, New Jersey in July 2003 to address the need
for greater involvement of Indian professionals in the school and college
curricula and in the media.
The Educators' Society for the Heritage of India (ESHI) was thus formed
by scholars, educators, and community leaders. ESHI is
incorporated in New Jersey as a tax-exempt organization under 501(c)(3).
